SHALMAI KEIM
Principal Designer/Founder
Interior designer, storyteller, and creator of spaces that feel like home.
I was born and raised in Puerto Rico, where beauty and warmth shaped my point of view.
I earned my degree in Interior Design from The Art Institute in South Florida. My style and approach were really shaped by years of working in the design world in Miami and Fort Lauderdale area.
I relocated to Northern Indiana in early 2010's (thanks to my husband who grew up in Goshen). I officially started Shalmai Interiors in 2021.
In 2025, I bought a historic building in downtown Goshen and turned it into my studio and an Airbnb, La Rue No. 3. It’s romantic, a little European, and just feels special.
I’ve been lucky to have my work featured in a few places like American Farmhouse Style and Chicago Magazine, which still feels kind of surreal.
When I’m not working, I would love to be near the ocean, but in reality I am usually at home with my boys, cuddling my dog, and doing something creative.
My approach to design is pretty intuitive. Every project is different, and I love bringing spaces to life in a way that feels a little beyond what was expected.
